10 years of blogging

When i created this blog site in 2007, i was just an ordinary banker. I was dreaming of becoming a lawyer and/or professor of economics.

Fast forward. 2017. I am now a lawyer and finishing my JSD at San Beda Graduate School of Law. I am also an assistant professorial lecturer at DLSU Graduate School of Business, handling courses in financial economics, corporate finance and commercial law!

And with the grace of God, now a Vice President of BDO Trust.

God is good!

Plan of Study

I finished my law degree in 2011. Passed the bar in 2012.
I am now on my third year in my coursework for my doctorate degree in communication at UP Open University. Next school year, I will already enroll in Comm 400 (Dissertation). I am excited to enter the candidacy phase of my doctorate studies.

However, next year, I need to take the Mandatory Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) Seminar. I intend also to enrol in the Master of Laws program of San Beda Graduate School of Law. For my thesis, I intend to write a treatise that will annotate the Philippine Laws on Trust and Investments. Wishful thinking.

Thereafter, I intend to take the PhD in Law and Economics at Erasmus Mundus Program (University of Bologna - Italy, University of Hamburg - Germany, Rotterdam Institute of Law and Economics - Netherlands, and Indira Ghandi Institute of Development Studies - India.). Imagine spending 4 years in 4 different universities for a PhD!

The ultimate question is: What will I do after my doctorate studies? He he he. Am I prepared ti pursue a career in the academe? He he he.

It was really fast. It was really quick.
It is undefined.

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way.

A new beginning

I opened this blogsite in 2007. In 2007, I was just promoted as Manager and Senior Account Officer at BPI Asset Management handling the investment/retirement/endowment funds of foundations, schools and religious institutions. I also graduated from the Trust School as class valedictorian. I just acquired my black sapphire chevy.

Today, it's September 12, 2012. I can't sleep. So many things happened between 2007 and 2012.

In June 2007, I finally decided to pursue law studies. I was an entrance scholar at the Lyceum of the Philippines University College of Law (Makati). Experienced many sleepless nights digesting cases and memorizing codal provisions of the law while working as Senior Account Officer at BPI. In 2008, I transferred to General Electric (GE) as Account Management Leader for the Trust Banking business of GE Money Philippines. In 2009, GE Money was absorbed by BDO.

I joined BDO Trust as Senior Manager - Product and Market Development (lateral entry).

In 2010, I went back to UP. This time as doctorate student at the Faculty of Information and Communication Studies at UP Open University. My student number is still the same. I am Number 1994-07492.

It was in June 2010 that I was simultaneously a full time employee, full time law student and part-time doctorate student. It was during this period that I got the habit of sleeping only for 4 hours daily. My body rhythm was really fucked up. My relationship with my girlfriend suffered.

I graduated from law school in 2011. Thereafter I took my Pre-Bar Review at the PCU College of Law. The review was extensive since the classes are held only every weekend. It was really a self review. I did not resign from work. I only took a 13 day VL during the bar exams (November 2011).

February 2012 - Miracles do happen. I passed the bar!

March 2012 - I took the oath and signed the roll of attorneys.  I am now Atty. Michael G Munsayac. I an number 60706.

May 2012 - I was informed by my boss of my promotion ot AVP - Product and Market Development.

2012 was really a blessed year for me.

August 2012 - I ended a seven (7) year- relationship. It was gentle and swift. I received the most painful slap in my whole life. It was doomed from the beginning. It was just lust. Love is missing in the equation. I believe this was my longest relationship ever. Was it really over? Yes, It's over when I said It's over. I can still feel the scars.

I just prayed to God that I am accepting my destiny. I was prepared to pursue single blessedness. My life is so fucked up. I am what you may call a "damaged good".

September 2012 - Another chapter of my life started. It's not perfect but I am learning a lot from this experience.

Pundaquit in my mind

As usual, mahirap syang gisingin.

He's such a light traveler talaga!

Ang breakfast namin eh Pampanga's specialty: tocino omelet with rice at syempre and batirol (Pampanga's version of the Chocolate Eh). Grabe ansarap mag-breakfast dahil katabi namin ang pool.

After breakfast we drove again.

Huminto kami along San Antonio Highway. Very close pa sa nature.

Very progressive talaga ang sunset. Nag-iiba ng colors every minute. Ganda! May yellow, may purple, may violet, may orange. The setting is so romantic and familiar. It turns out, sa Pundaquit pala nag-shooting ang "Maging Sino Ka Man".

Mga 7 pm na ata dumating yung mga fellow Docents from Ayala Museum: Marilyn, Abet, Pat, Ian, Tess, Van, Kay.

We had dinner na most seafoods. I was introduced to the local fish variety, Lipistikan. Lasang tilapia sya.

After dinner, yosi break. Nahati ang table between the first world and the third world. The third world guys are the yosi guys. Hurray!!!!

Nag-inuman kami hanggang magdaman. Naglaitan, nag kwentuhan, nagbugubugan.

Next blog. Camara Island and Capones Island.

ONE RAINY AFTERNOON

It was almost a year since we last saw each other and almost two months since we last communicated via SMS. So I was rather surprised when you asked me to see you in Olongapo. I was surprised because I thought you don't want to see me anymore.

Ours is something undefined. Something unforgettable. It's there but it's not there actually. Thank you for always being there especially during the lowest part of my life. Thank you for the moments. Reminiscing was such a good thing. There you are. Talking, shouting, singing. And in the end, I understood. All along....

It was one rainy morning when I drove to Olongapo and it was raining when I left. But at least I know... some good things really never last.

TIFP Batch 2006-2007 Graduation Ceremonies

Finally, after a full year of hardwork and full year of sacrificing our Saturdays just to attend classes at the Asian Institute of Management, last May 11, 2007, we received our diplomas in lavish program.

The official call time was 5PM. However, the ceremonies started at around 6pm. At that point, nobody knows who will be graduating with satisfaction, distinction. We still don't know the top 10 students.

The BPI contingent was seated on a table and are hoping that at least 1 rep will land in the top 10.

During the awarding of diplomas, it was revealed that Kim, Winston, and Jok are graduating with distinction. I was not called. My goodness! Our Administrator informed us that those who were not called are the top 10 students. What!!!!

To make the long story short, I was the last to be called. I can't believe it, I am the Class Valedictorian.

Our administrator announced that it is our Salutatorian who will be sent to the National Graduate Trust School, Northwestern University, Illinois to attend a special trust course. She is the only one in the Top 10 with no exam scores below 80. This also happened last year.

My score kasi in the check-up exam for Transfer Agency and Other Trust Functions was less than 80% although my final exam score was 100%. Well ganun talaga, rules are rules. It's not meant for me. I'm happy because I am still the valedictorian. They can't take that away from me. I will forever be listed in the List of Valedictorian students. I thank the Lord for that.

After ceremonies, we had little kasiyahan. Nag-disco ang mga students and teachers. Swing, cha cha, boogie, foxtrot. Halos midnight na natapos ang kasayahan.

Once again congratulations to Jok, Winston, Kim and Karen. Good luck sa mga susunod na batch from BPI.
